📜 APOCALYPSE OF ABRAHAM

📖 CHAPTER 1

In the days of Terah my father, I sought to know the God who created heaven and earth.

And I said within myself:

“Who is he that made the heavens and the earth?”

And I looked at the sun, and it shone greatly, and I said:

“Surely the sun is God.”

But when it set, I said:

“It cannot be God.”

📖 CHAPTER 2

And I looked upon the moon and the stars, and I said:

“Perhaps these are God.”

But when clouds covered them, I said:

“They also are not God.”

📖 CHAPTER 3

And I saw that all things were made and perished.

And I said:

“None of these can be the true God.”

And I sought Him who created all.

📖 CHAPTER 4

And I saw my father making idols, and I laughed at them.

For they could not move nor speak.

And I said:

“These are not gods.”

📖 CHAPTER 5

And I took one of the idols and broke it.

And my father was angry with me.

And I said:

“Why do you worship that which cannot save?”

📖 CHAPTER 6

And I burned the idols with fire.

And I saw that they were consumed.

And I said:

“If they were gods, they would save themselves.”

📖 CHAPTER 7

And I heard a voice from heaven saying:

“Abraham, Abraham.”

And I said:

“Here am I.”

📖 CHAPTER 8

And He said:

“Leave thy father’s house, and seek Me.”

And I trembled at the voice.

📖 CHAPTER 9

And I went forth, not knowing where I went.

And the voice guided me.

📖 CHAPTER 10

And I saw the heavens opened.

And a great light surrounded me.

📖 CHAPTER 11

And the voice said:

“I am the God who created all things.”

And I fell upon my face.

📖 CHAPTER 12

And He commanded me to prepare a sacrifice.

And to be ready for what He would show me.

📖 CHAPTER 13

And it came to pass when I had prepared the sacrifice as I had been commanded,
that there came a voice unto me saying:

“Abraham, Abraham.”

And I said:
“Here am I.”

And He said:
“Behold, I have sent unto thee a messenger, that he may guide thee.”

📖 CHAPTER 14

And I looked, and behold, there stood before me an angel, and his appearance was terrible and glorious.

And his voice was like the roaring of many waters.

And he said unto me:
“I am Yahoel, who standeth in the presence of the Lord.”

📖 CHAPTER 15

And he said unto me:
“Be not afraid, Abraham, for the Lord hath chosen thee.”

“And thou shalt see great things which no man hath seen.”

And he commanded me to stand and prepare for ascent.

📖 CHAPTER 16

And I arose, trembling, and followed the angel.

And he took me up, and we ascended through the firmament.

And I saw the expanse of the heavens, and the powers that were therein.

📖 CHAPTER 17

And we ascended higher, and I saw hosts of angels praising the Lord.

And their voices were like thunder, and their praise was unceasing.

And I fell upon my face.

📖 CHAPTER 18

And the angel said unto me:
“Stand, Abraham, and behold.”

And I saw a great throne, and upon it sat the Lord in glory.

And I trembled and could not look upon Him.

📖 CHAPTER 19

And the angel strengthened me, and I looked again.

And I saw the order of creation, and how all things were arranged.

And I saw the earth and all that was upon it.

📖 CHAPTER 20

And I saw the abyss and the depths, and the place of punishment.

And I saw the place of the righteous, where there was light and peace.

📖 CHAPTER 21

And I saw the generations of men, and how they walked in righteousness or wickedness.

And their deeds were revealed before the Lord.

📖 CHAPTER 22

And I saw the adversary, and his works among men.

And how he deceived them and led them astray.

And I was shown the corruption of the earth.

📖 CHAPTER 23

And I said unto the Lord:
“Why hast Thou allowed this to be?”

And He answered me:

“For a time I permit it, but judgment shall come.”

📖 CHAPTER 24

And it came to pass that I saw the whole world, and all that is therein.

And I saw the peoples and nations, and how they were divided.

And I saw that many walked in darkness, and few in righteousness.

📖 CHAPTER 25

And I saw a great judgment seat, and books were opened.

And all men were judged according to their works.

And the righteous were separated from the wicked.

📖 CHAPTER 26

And I saw the inheritance of the righteous, and it was full of light and joy.

And I saw the punishment of the wicked, and it was darkness and torment.

And I was afraid.

📖 CHAPTER 27

And the Lord said unto me:

“These are the things which shall come to pass in the last days.”

“And I will judge all flesh according to their deeds.”

📖 CHAPTER 28

And I saw a chosen one, who was set apart.

And through him many were justified.

And he stood against the adversary.

📖 CHAPTER 29

And I saw the covenant established with the righteous.

And they were given a place among the elect.

And they rejoiced before the Lord.

📖 CHAPTER 30

And I saw the destruction of the wicked, and their works came to nothing.

And they were cast away, and their memory perished.

📖 CHAPTER 31

And I saw the renewal of the earth, and it was made clean.

And righteousness dwelt therein.

And there was peace.

📖 CHAPTER 32

And the Lord said unto me:

“Abraham, these are the things that thou hast seen.”

“And thou shalt declare them to thy descendants.”
