BOOK OF JUBILEES STANDARDIZED

πŸ“– CHAPTER 1

And it came to pass in the first year of the exodus of the children of Israel out of Egypt, in the third month, on the sixteenth day of the month, that God spake to Moses, saying:

β€œCome up to Me on the Mount, and I will give thee two tables of stone of the law and of the commandment, which I have written, that thou mayest teach them.”

And Moses went up into the mount of God, and the glory of the Lord abode on Mount Sinai, and a cloud overshadowed it six days.

And He called to Moses on the seventh day out of the midst of the cloud.

And the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a flaming fire on the top of the Mount.

And Moses was on the Mount forty days and forty nights, and God taught him the earlier and the later history of the division of all the days of the law and of the testimony.

πŸ“– CHAPTER 2

For on the first day He created the heavens which are above and the earth and the waters and all the spirits which serve before Him:

The angels of the presence, and the angels of sanctification, and the angels of the spirit of fire, and the angels of the spirit of the winds, and the angels of the spirit of the clouds, and of darkness, and of snow and of hail and of hoarfrost.

And He created all the spirits of His creatures which are in the heavens and on the earth.

And He created the abyss and the darknessβ€”eventide and nightβ€”and the lightβ€”dawn and day.

And He sanctified the seventh day and made it holy forever.

πŸ“– CHAPTER 3

And on the six days of the second week we brought, according to the word of God, unto Adam all the beasts, and all the cattle, and all the birds, and everything that moves on the earth.

And Adam gave names to them all.

And the Lord caused a deep sleep to fall upon him, and He took for the woman one rib from among his ribs, and He built flesh in its stead.

And He built the woman.

And Adam awoke and saw her and said:
β€œThis is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.”

πŸ“– CHAPTER 4

And in the third week, in the second jubilee, she gave birth to Cain, and in the fourth she gave birth to Abel.

And Cain slew Abel because God accepted the sacrifice of Abel, and not that of Cain.

And the Lord rebuked Cain and cursed him.

And Adam again knew his wife, and she bore a son, and he called his name Seth.

And he lived and begat sons and daughters.

πŸ“– CHAPTER 5

And it came to pass when the children of men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

That the angels of God saw them on a certain year of this jubilee, that they were beautiful to look upon.

And they took themselves wives of all whom they chose, and they bore unto them sons, and they were giants.

And lawlessness increased on the earth.

πŸ“– CHAPTER 6

And after the children of men had begun to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
that the angels of God saw them on a certain year of this jubilee, that they were beautiful to look upon;
and they took themselves wives of all whom they chose, and they bore unto them sons, and they were giants.

And lawlessness increased on the earth, and all flesh corrupted its way, alike men and cattle and beasts and birds,
and everything that walketh on the earth.

And the Lord destroyed everything from the face of the earth; because of the wickedness of their deeds.

πŸ“– CHAPTER 7

And Noah and his sons did according to all that the Lord commanded them, and he built the ark in all respects as He commanded him.

And he made for himself a vineyard, and he drank of the wine, and was drunken.

And Ham saw his father’s nakedness and told his two brethren.

And Shem and Japheth covered their father.

πŸ“– CHAPTER 8

And in the twenty-ninth jubilee, in the first week, in the beginning thereof, Arpachshad took to himself a wife.

And she bore him a son, and he called his name Kainam.

And the child grew and his father taught him writing.

And he went to seek for himself a place where he might seize for himself a city.

πŸ“– CHAPTER 9

And Ham divided among his sons, and Cush received Ethiopia, and Mizraim received Egypt.

And Shem divided his inheritance among his sons, and the land was apportioned.

And Noah adjured all his sons that they should not trespass on the territory allotted to his brother.

πŸ“– CHAPTER 10

And the Lord destroyed all the spirits of the giants, and the demons began to lead astray the children of Noah.

And Noah prayed before the Lord his God, saying:
β€œLet not the evil spirits rule over them.”

And the Lord commanded that a tenth part of them should remain.
